Not even two weeks after Snapdragon 730 rolled out, a leak about its successor chip called Snapdragon 735 has begun to circulate. The leak is in the form of a document that reveals the detailed specifications of Snapdragon 735.
Interestingly, this chip is listed as 5G ready in the specifications. If there is actually an integrated 5G capability, Snapdragon 735 in this case is even more sophisticated than the Snapdragon 855 which must be paired with another modem chip in order to utilize 5G.
Snapdragon 735 Specifications
According to the the document, the modem used by Snapdragon 735 supports the use of sub-6 GHz frequencies and millimeter wave. So far there are no maximum downlink speed and uplink are listed. Similar to Snapdragon 855, the document says Snapdragon 735 is made with a 7nm fabrication process.
Snapdragon 735 allegedly have eight core Kryo 4xx series (octa-core) CPUs which are divided into three clusters containing one high-speed 2.9 GHz core, one core for normal speed 2.4 GHz, and six power saving core with 1.8 GHz power. The GPU used in Snapdragon 735 is rumored to be Adreno 620 with a clock speed of 750 MHz. The GPU speed is slightly slower than the Adreno 618 (Snapdragon 730) with 825 MHz clock speed.
For AI performance, Snapdragon 735 reportedly uses NPU220 AI (Neural Processing Unit) processing chip with speed up to 1 GHz, as compiled by KompasTekno from GSMArena on Monday (4/22/2019).
It is still uncertain whether the information contained in the leaked image is a Snapdragon 735 specification or not, or even if the official name will be “Snapdragon 735”. Qualcomm itself also has not provided official information about the chip.
