IoT’s event in Jakarta
Qualcomm had successfully organized an event called “Qualcomm Invention Forum: Era of Smart and Connected Industries”. It was held to introduce the newly developed technology, especially related to the Internet of Things (IoT), This event itself was held in Jakarta, April 23rd 2019.
The main focus in this event was to provide chances for the IoT players in Indonesia to know further about the applications made by Industrial Internet of Things that has been adopted from their very own homeland, mainly to achieve the goals of Industry 4.0.
The forum consists of the developers, system integrators, and cellular operators were also expected to be the supporter for Indonesia’s preparation towards the 5G era. Innovation exposure and technical products that combined by the IoT demonstration solution was also pointed out on this event.
“Qualcomm have played the important role in order to create the next generation of wireless technology in several decades. By launching the 5G technology this year, we would like to start a new big era called Era of Inventions,” said Shannedy Ong, the Senior Director of Business Development of Qualcomm.

IoT’s claims about Indonesia
Furthermore, Shannedy Ong stated that Indonesia is a country that possessed by a big potential. It makes Qualcomm believe that encouraging the IoT development will be a “golden ticket” for Indonesia to compete in the global level.
Through the Indonesian IoT Association, IoT’s market rate in Indonesia is estimated to reach USD 30 billion. It consisted of 400 million censors that connected to several related industries in 2022.
“With an enormous potentials provided by the market and the confidence of the local players, the government have to do a fast response to finish the IoT roadmap. Besides, we hope that the government also could create a supportive law regarding the IoT development in Indonesia,” said Andri Yadi, the Vice President of Indonesian IoT Association.
The same point has also stated by Sanjeet Padit, Senior Director, Business Development and Head of Smart Cities of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Through their achievements, he talked a lot about the Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program that recently announced by Qualcomm.
It has been mentioned that Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program is a site which focused on the aggregation of specific solution for smart cities application all over the world from every companies that used Qualcomm’s technologies.
Furthemore, Sanjeet Pandit said that this program is designed to connect cities, provinces, government institutions, and companies with the ecosystem that provided technology-based solution from Qualcomm.
“This program was built by Qualcomm to create an ecosystem of business-to-business (B2B). We hope that it could make the development and smart cities solution all over the world become as fast as possible,” said Sanjeet Pandit.
