Apple introduced the latest version of MacOS, named Catalina. Catalina was announced at the annual conference of Apple developers (WWDC 2019) in San Jose, California, USA.

What are macOS Catalina New Features?

In this latest version of MacOS, Apple is updating a number of features. One of the most striking is the ability of iTunes to be polished to support Apple Music, Apple Podcast, and Apple TV services.

After the upgrade, iTunes can be used to browse and enjoy content at the three entertainment services mentioned above. Apple’s Podcast “search” feature is also updated with artificial intelligence (AI) technology that can predict content search.

In the iTunes application on macOS Catalina, Apple TV content can also be enjoyed up to 4K resolution.

In addition to the iTunes update, Catalina is also equipped with a new feature called Sidecar. With this feature, users can use their iPad as a secondary screen from a macOS Catalina-installed device (such as a MacBook).

Finally, Apple is updating MacOS Catalina accessibility support with an increase in the performance and “Siri” digital assistant voice algorithm, which can now be used to control the Mac fully with only voice commands.

Security features are also improved. MacOS Catalina comes with an Apple device search feature, called “Find My”, which can be used even when the system is not connected to the internet (using Bluetooth). Catalina also comes with an “activation lock” system that can be used to protect Mac devices from theft (only available on Macs with a T2 security chip).

When will macOS Catalina be available?

MacOS Catalina will be launched around July 2019, as summarized by KompasTekno from TrustedReviews, Tuesday (4/6/2019). For users who can’t wait to try it, they can go to the Apple site specifically for developers at the following link, then register themselves and log in on the site.

It should be noted, because the latest MacOS access is limited to developers only and actually is a beta version, there will be an annual subscription fee of $99 USD.
