A laptop with two screens seems to be the new trend in the PC industry. Just a while ago, Asus introduced the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo which has two screens display.
Intel is likely to be the next, but this semiconductor company designed a laptop specifically for professional gamers. The new prototype two-screen laptop is named “Honeycomb Glacier”.
Honeycomb Glacier is the Sweetest Laptop for Gamers
The main screen stretches 15.6 inches 1080p resolution and the secondary screen has a diagonal of 12.3 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 720. Of course the design is different from Asus’s latop because of its different usage.
The Honeycomb Glacier screen is supported with double hinges. The first hinge serves to raise the screen so that users can more easily monitor the two monitors in a position parallel to the eyes.
While one more hinge works like a clutch that is assisted by a button on the left side to lower the screen or fold the screen.
For the internals, the Honeycomb Glacier is powered by the ninth generation Core processor with 8 unknown core types, along with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. Under the dual hinges, Intel implements a cooling system. There is a single, displaced fan that pulls air through the compartment designed to rapidly cool down the system.
Because it is intended for gaming, Intel utilizes the Tobii eye tracking camera technology, which will facilitate the movement of the touchpad on the right of the keyboard. Usually, this technology is used by e-sport players to track eye movements during a match.
Intel seems to be still focused on design and still hasn’t perfected the software for Honeycomb Glacier. Summarized by KompasTekno from The Verge, Wednesday (05/29/2019) there are still many bugs found on the laptop.
This laptop is only a prototype that will add to the portfolio of Intel research and development teams in the laptop business. But Intel is optimistic that there will be several laptop manufacturers that will be inspired by the design of the Honeycomb Glacier, as Asus has done with ZenBook Pro Duo.
