Google developed artificial intelligence (AI) technology that could detect lung cancer. Researchers at Google, Danial Tse developed an algorithm that claimed to be successful in defeating several trained radiologists during testing.
Reported by Ubergizmo, Wednesday (05/22/2019), like the previous AI technology used in detecting cancer, AI must undergo ‘training’, which is running thousands of patient scans. This Google technology is expected to show better results.
This is done so that the system can learn how to scan healthy patients and scan patients who are suffering from lung cancer. With this, doctors can be helped if they find a patient who might be at risk.
Google AI will Not Eliminate Doctors’ Role
However, detection is only one part because another test is needed to confirm it, plus the treatment plan also varies from patient to patient, which means that the doctor’s role should not be eliminated.
Google AI is expected to be able to further refine their technology to support technology in the health sector.
