The tech giant, Google, has just launched a new feature for Google Home device called Gentle Sleep and Wake to a routine.
What is Google Home?
Google Home is a brand of smart speakers developed by Google that will allow users to speak voice commands to interact with services through Google’s Assistant.
A large number of services, both in-house and third-party, are integrated, allowing users to view multimedia files or receive news updates entirely by voice. Google Home devices also have integrated support for home automation, letting users control smart home appliances with their voice. Besides India, the Gentle Sleep and Wake feature is available in US,UK, Australia, Canada and Singapore in English language only.
How to Raise Productivity with Gentle Sleep and Wake
Collaborating with Phillips, in order to use the Google Home Device
feature users will have to buy and install Philips Hue smart lights. These lights will then be programmed to turn on or off over the course of 30 minutes “to mimic the sunrise or help your eyes adjust and prepare for bedtime.”
These smart lights will activate when the user say “Hey Google, turn on Gentle Wake up.” and make sure that the Gentle Wake Up is enabled on the same Google Home device they will set their alarms on. Or, users can also say the command “Hey Google, wake up my lights in the bedroom at 6:30 am,” in order to set up the smart light and turn on the alarm altogether.
Similarly, by saying “Hey Google, sleep the lights in the living room,” you can set the lights to dim. In any configuration, Philips Hue lights will be set to gradually brighten or dim and can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance.
Recently, it was reported that Google may be planning to update Google Home this year along with a new Google smartwatch, new Nest Cam and much-teased budget Pixel 3 series handsets.
