If 5G is still a case of debate in the US, it’s become another story in the UK. Because, 5G has been used in the UK, but not for humans. It’s for the Cows. Funny, right?
As claimed by Reuters, Cisco is testing a base for the global launch of the 5G. It can, later on, be used by various industries that have not traditionally been in the wave of the tech, but
In this case, Cisco tried 5G in three rural locations by giving farmers access to the 5G paired with colar that was connected and tagged to the ear for health observing. It could transmit biometric data and help workers observe the herd from afar.
One of the three locations that participated in this test is the Agricultural Engineering Precision Innovation Center that funded by the government, or Agri-EPI Center, in the Shepton Mallet, a small town in Southwest England. The farm has almost one-third of the 180 herds that set up with the 5G collars and tags. Reported by Reuters.
If you think about it, of course, this would be very good, because the farm has a vast and rife land. The Cows are often trapped between lea and countryside areas. Therefore, if they use the collar, they can be easier to milk and check.
With a 5G collar, Cisco says farmers can keep an eye on the animals at any time of the day without having to make physical observations to watch the cows more closely.
This Smart Colar 5G can helps automate the milking process by :
- Communicating wirelessly with a robotic milking system that allows the cows to close in the milking place offhand,
- Pass through the gate after ID checking, and
- Connect to the robot.
In this case, there is no human as mediator at all.
“We can connect every cows, we can connect every animals on this farm,” Said by Nick Chrissos of Cisco to Reuters.
“That’s what 5G can do for agriculture. It’s truly let go of the power we have in it. Everywhere in the whole Britain, and everywhere in the world.”
