Not a common thing to see some peculiar vehicles out in the open, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Some people have one of those strange vehicles that the public unaware of, even those rare vehicles have a factory that produce them.
Electric Motorcycle by Indonesians
Selis New Balis, an electric motorcycle produced by an Indonesian factory (Selis) has been introduced since 2017. This motorcycle which is fitted for mothers have shown itself once again last year on an automotive event, Indonesia International Motor Show 2018. Despite the practical look it has, the motor can only go as far as 50 km per hour with the weight of 300 kg. That’s why New Balis is more suitable for a short ride around the housing complex instead out in the open road. Try to compare this ride to the ones made by Zero!
New Balis has three wheels and a small room enclosing the seat like a mini car. It can take up to two passengers for adult size, and three when there are children only in the back seat. The small room makes it rain-proof because it doesn’t appear in a roof shape only. The fuel for this motorcycle is using electrical power, it is why it can’t be taken too far for a ride.

There was a test ride in the event, according to them the handlebars are easily jolting when the vehicle went through bumpy roads, and when trying to take a turn they can feel the vibration either. Unlike any other motor, drivers can’t pull the grip and at the same time press the brake. New Balis needs to take turn for when to go and when to stop, because even when your pull the grip but if it’s at the same time as pressing the brake then the motor will stay still without going any further.
New Balis has a battery of 6×8 V 170 Ah and a motor drive DC 60V 1500W. For its interior it is quite spacious for a person in the size of 160 cm (5’3”), it also has two compartment right below the handlebars that can be used to put the driver’s phone or wallet just in case. New Balis has a front window with a single wiper that can be used when it’s raining. There are three panel buttons near below the handlebar, on the left side you can see the buttons in which to decide when to move with D (to go forward), N (to stop or park), and R (to move backward). New Balis price itself is up to Rp 45.000.000 (3.168 USD) on the current market.
