Samsung is reportedly working on two smartphones that can be folded. The two smartphones are each called Type G and Type S.
Two New Foldable Phones, What will they look like?
Starting with Type G, this device will feature an 8-inch screen when opened and two sides that fold to form the letter G. While Type S is reported to have a 13-inch screen when opened and slightly S-shaped when closed, just like their namesake initials.
A report last March stated that Samsung worked on two folding devices, on one type the screen will be folding out, and the other with a clamshell concept (folding inwards, just like Sharp’s prototype). Older reports claim, Samsung will announce an out-folding device later this year or early next year.
As reported on Android Authority, Tuesday (4/23/2019), the report did not explicitly mentions when Type G and S will be released to the public. As such, there are still many subjects that might change.
Follow up after Galaxy Fold Criticism
At present, Samsung is facing criticism due to quality control problem over the Galaxy Fold. The South Korean electronics giant officially suspended the Galaxy Fold public launch in China and other regions due to screen damages.
“Preliminary findings from inspections of problems reported on the screen show they could be associated with impacts on the upper and lower areas of the hinge. There are also examples of substances found in the device that affect screen performance,” Samsung stated.
Samsung promises to strengthen screen protection and improve the user manual regarding screen maintenance and use, including protective coatings so that customers get the most out of their Galaxy Fold.
