Oppo has one new technology related to a selfie camera on their cellphone. The selfie camera on the Oppo cellphone will later be hidden beneath the surface of the screen, just like the in-display fingerprint module on the latest flagship cellphone.
This under-display camera technology was exhibited by Oppo in a short video. The video demonstrates the selfie camera capability for Oppo’s future cellphone.
The video is spread by the official @Oppo account on Twitter, and also on the Chinese social network, Weibo.
In the video uploaded by Oppo, it can be seen that there is a smartphone that has a full screen without any notch or camera hole.
Oppo Under-display Camera is a Cool Improvement
The user on the video demonstrated the camera application and took a sample photo. It appears on the video, when the front camera is used and snaps a photo, there is no visible selfie camera that appears (pop-up method), or implanted in the screen hole. There was only a “shutter” sound that was heard when the cellphone was used to take a selfie shot.
When the selfie camera is still in use, the smartphone screen also shows a picture of the ceiling. The person who demonstrated this technology even touched the screen of the cellphone with a finger to make sure inside the screen was embedded a hidden selfie camera.
Related to this technology, as summarized by KompasTekno from Engadget, Tuesday (06/04/2019), Oppo’s Vice President, Brian Shen said that the under-display camera technology as in the video had not been fully finished yet.
The results of the photos produced by the camera are still in the early stages and have not been able to take photos as well as selfie cameras in general. Even so, he did not disclose when this technology would be completed. Hopefully, it will be available soon.
