Country Head of Indonesia’s Facebook, Sri Widowati said Instagram is in the process on testing the Shopping feature of several online traders in Indonesia.
This feature can help users immediately see the price of an item on the photos they post on social media. However, Widowati claims this feature could not be used massively. But it has just been tested by several of their big business partners.
“Only a few big partners, not all because we want to see how the market reacts,” said by Widowati at the office of Indonesia’s Facebook, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/5).
“This Shopping feature gives consumers ability to know how much price of the product is, so that everyone does not need to visit the website to check prices,” she continued at Instagram’s Role in Digital Marketing Strategy in Indonesia event held on office of Indonesia’s Facebook on Tuesday (5/3).
Reporting from the official Instagram website, this Shopping feature is available in Story and Explore in September 2018 ago. There are 46 countries that have been able to use this feature freely.
Widowati said that currently there are more than 150 million Instagram users who have conversations with business people through direct messages every month throughout the world.
“Globally, more than 150 million users interact with business people through direct messages and one-third of messages for business profiles start with Story,” she said.
Based on data as of June 2018, the number of Instagram users worldwide reaches 1 billion. So that the number of users who conduct trade interactions is only 15 percent of total Instagram users.
“So, we provide two new features, namely the integration of inbox so as to minimize the possibility of unread messages and quick replies,” she continued.
In addition, Instagram also provides a number of buttons on a business profile that can encourage users to take actions such as telephone, e-mail or show directions to the business shop.
