YouTube will do changes
Similar to other social medias, YouTube’s subscriber number is like an inaudible presence to determine whether ones channel can be categorised as famous or not.
But recently it is known that not all numbers are displayed the same in several countries. Some have the shortened version like 130k when they already have more than 1,000 subscribers, some still show the long version of the detailed number.

YouTube will announce the change
Those which already display the short version similarly work like how decimal numbers are, for example if there is a total of 4.399 it will still show as 4.3k and will change to 4.4k when it has reached the amount. This also applies to those who have over than 10 millions subscribers.
To create a consistency of the display number, YouTube announced from their official blog forum that they will change all to the short version display as of August 2019.
Some may not be affected by the news, but for growing content creator like YouTubers it’s still important because the number of their subscribers what determines how famous they are in the eyes of the audience. Although this will only hide partially of the count, it seems this decision is the same with Instagram on how they want to hide the numbers of like display.
